TECO Refrigerator industrial design

We collaborated with TECO and provided the Industrial Design and CMF design directions for their next-gen glass panel refrigerator. I offered two holding directions while minimizing the prominent handle features as much as possible. I also applied CMF design to integrate the color of the panel to minimize the sense of abruptness.

CMF DESIGN PROPOSAL

Initially, we attempted to emphasize the refrigerator's 'narrow frame' feature by using a transparent effect and incorporated TECO's brand characteristic, the 'dual vertical lines,' in the proposal. However, once we realized the touch panel's color limitations, we focused on achieving better visual coherence.

Since the vendor only had white and black color panels,
I design a gradient pattern and color to blend the panels seamlessly.

IDEA SKETCH & DEVELOPMENT

I painted all these sketches using Photoshop and Wacom pen tablet.

I opted for two primary development directions. The first one emphasizes the features of the handle, using materials such as metal and wood to create a more refined texture.

The other direction is hiding the handle using a groove behind the glass. Additionally, I began to consider a design that allows for easy door opening with both left and right hands. The final design is the result of this direction.
