Medical app design for Anesthesias team

Due to the limitations of the current paper-based forms that do not align with the working habits of the medical staff in the Anesthesiology Department at National Taiwan University Hospital, there is a need for a digital app to optimize their workflow. In close collaboration with healthcare professionals, we have developed an app that enhances processes and efficiency to better suit their work environment.

Year: 04/2017 - 06/2018

The initial requirement we received was to "digitize traditional paper forms," but for this project, we have defined three primary objectives. We applied semi-structured interviews to clarify their responsibility and working habits. We also utilized participative observation to understand how they interact with patients, worksheets, and the environment.

Account & Signature

Due to the need for doctors to sign medical orders and the differing responsibilities of nursing staff, identity verification and electronic signature functionality are crucial.

Monitor Surgery

ANES doctors manage multiple surgeries at the same time. They have to monitor the progress in multiple operating rooms.

Task Assignment

The duties of the head nurse and the nurses are generally similar, but the head nurse needs to distribute visiting tasks. There is an opportunity to automate this process.

Task Synchronize

Nurses need to communicate progress and support each other through communication software. e.g., Google sheet, Line.

USER RESEARCH - RESPONSIBILITY

3 Working Stages

The surgical process can be segmented into three distinct steps, aligning with the work habits of doctors.

Can divide the app into 3 stages, each providing different content

Surgery Plan

Doctors will complete prescriptions immediately after patient visits, requiring patient data for assistance.

Key function pre-surgery, intended for high-level layer, and it provides supplementary data.

Visits

A patient will undergo multiple visits. For safety measures, doctors and nursing staff will repetitively confirm information with the patient.

Automatically populate specific data to enhance efficiency.

PCA

PCA is a patient-funded and relatively flexible anesthesia method. Patients can decide at any time whether to add this prescription.

This form will be frequently updated and should be configured at a higher level.

INFOSTRUCTURE
